🌴Lemuria Bay

Volunteering in Madagascar

Step into a world where nature, wildlife, and human community thrive together!

Lemuria Bay is not a program – it is a living ecosystem, a sanctuary where every action matters. From snow-white beaches and turquoise waters to vibrant coral reefs, Madagascar reveals its purest beauty. Black lemurs roam the forests, dolphins and whales glide along the coast, and over 300 sea turtle nests are laid each season on one of our four protected beaches.

Here, volunteers, staff, and villagers collaborate to protect life, restore habitats, and strengthen communities. Every effort resonates—from the forests to the shoreline, from the lemurs to the villages.

We want to share this openly and transparently. Lemuria Bay is located in a remote part of Madagascar. There are no roads and no cars. All movement happens by boat. Food, materials, and supplies are transported by boat from Nosy Be. Fuel, maintenance, logistics, animal care, and basic infrastructure create ongoing costs.

Lemuria Bay is a independent project. We do not receive institutional funding, sponsorships, or foundation support. What exists here exists because people consciously support it.

Volunteer contributions help to cover:

  • Food and basic supplies
  • Boat transport and logistics
  • Animal care and veterinary needs
  • Materials for permaculture, reforestation, and conservation
  • The simple infrastructure that keeps this place running

Only the Project Lead position includes food and accommodation.

🌍 Who we welcome

Lemuria Bay is for those seeking more than a holiday. Professionals, students, solo travelers and groups are all welcome if ready to engage consciously, take responsibility, and connect authentically. Experience is secondary to willingness, presence, and commitment.

This place is created for people who know compassion not only as a word, but want to practise it as a way of life.

If you understand commitment, presence and genuine connection not just as concepts, but want to live them as daily practice, then Lemuria Bay is the place for you. Here you can experience first-hand how active, mindful support simultaneously protects animals, empowers people and heals nature.

"You don't have to be an expert to make a difference here. What matters is your willingness to give, learn and get involved. The rest will follow naturally."
